Emerald Law Group is proud to announce a $1.15 million settlement on behalf of the estate and children of Destinie Gates-Jackson<\/strong>, a young Seattle mother of two who was tragically murdered in 2020 by her former boyfriend while he was on parole for a prior assault against her.<\/p>\n

Background of the Case<\/h2>\n

At the time of the incident, Destinie Gates-Jackson had a no-contact order in place against Lester Thompson<\/strong>, her former boyfriend and the father of her two children. Thompson was on parole for previously assaulting Destinie, but the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC)<\/strong> failed to properly supervise him.<\/p>\n

During litigation, Emerald Law Group uncovered that the DOC was negligent in its supervision. Thompson absconded from parole and murdered Destinie, leaving behind her minor daughter and adult son.<\/p>\n
